Marusha - Wir download free

Ah yes, the always difficult "second album". More experimental than her debut Raveland which was a straight forward German style rave record. Wir explores new styles like (tech)house and (minimal) techno, slow and fast breakbeats and a bit of electro at the end. Unfortunately this blend only partially succeeds and for me the main highlights of Wir are the two 1995 singles Deep and Unique. Ironically these tracks still breathe the old rave atmosphere from Raveland which this album seems to be trying to escape from. Not to say that her house and techno efforts are bad, as tracks like House, Sunset and the rather experimental Lava are solid productions.It's at the end, after the track Unique, where this album gets into trouble. I have no idea what Hopper is supposed to be. It's a slow breakbeat track that sounds like it's just 5:43 of practice in how to control a sampler with a sequencer. The track never goes anywhere and gets repetitive quickly. The same goes more or less for Adjust, only at a higher tempo. The album ends with the ok, but IMO again a bit too repetitive, electro track Vermilion, which unfortunately can't make up for the previous two tracks.All in all it's a nice find in your local sales bin, if only for Deep and the album version of Unique, but I wouldn't have bought this back in 1995 at the full price myself.
