Two double-packs with four versions apiece from each respective remix stable makes this Italian creation, if nothing else, a pricey one to own. A quick check of the label credits also reveals a certain Alex Neri as co-writer – he of Nerio’s Dubworks fame. But this is far from his usual kitsch disco samplers, this is pure ‘80s white boy pop vox – think Simon Le Bon’s monotone pleas on ‘Planet Earth’ and you’re in the right ballpark. Harvey’s mixes in particular pick up on the ethereal vibe best, working the hypnotic, and highly memorable hook and spine-crawling bassline with greatest ease. Deep Dish conversely go on a slightly too predictable epic journey to the depths of reality and back with a blend of techno-smart keyboards in juxtaposition to the taut pop hook. Interestingly different.
