Nemesis - Snake Dance / Two Worlds download free

A classic Goa trance 12" from Stevenson, Leman and Greendale. The aptly-named "Snake Dance" is a spiralling track typical of the time but has a stronger Indian raga influence in scales and feeling, helped by the sample of passionate Hindu singing, than many did. That alone is a good reason to like this track, apart from the excellent if simple structure. Whilst all Goa was influenced by its location, and one could even see it as an extension of 60s psychedelic and prog rock which was also influenced by Eastern melodies and structures, few were as overtly Hindu in orientation as this track. All that is missing is the temple bell. One might even wonder if British Goa trance producers were more open to Indian influence than others due to the "jewel in the crown" history of the raj? "Two Worlds" on the b-side has a moon landing sample and is less distinctive. Highly recommended, especially for "Snake Dance" which is a dj tool of note and a great instance of west-east collaboration. ~*~
